TECH: Interactive Touch Wall​

Touch walls have been in the process of standardization since at least 2005. The peak of touch wall research was in around 2010 in research side. They appear to have a renaissance in 2026 according to google trends (Also see TUIO). A setup for Flavoria's Aistikattila is currently being developed (2026) with the goal of it being extensible all the way to VR cooperation.

The requirements include:

  • Cross-platform (Windows, Linux)
  • Open-source
  • Standardized protocols (TUIO or equiv.)
  • Multi touch
  • IR-pen / touch tracking
  • Optional: Multi-touch gestures

Example user journey: A projector-based drawing wall is utilized by multiple people at the same time on multiple projectors (blended) with multiple cameras tracking gestures (wide wall). End result can be
